Fort Worth Weekend Round-up

Fort Worth Weekend Round-up

Written by: Brenna

Well y’all, we finally found a weekend to go visit Callie and Jason in their new hometown! Jason has been there since last fall when he started his job at Lockheed Martin and Callie didn’t move up until after they got married. Only since they’ve been married, it’s literally been something EVERY weekend which explains why we just had the chance to visit them!

We got into town on Friday and went straight to this little hole in the wall pizza place because we were STARVING. Only it wasn’t a hidden gem like we were hoping for, but hey, that’s part of trying new places. Gotta weed them out for next time. After dinner, we went back to Callie and Jason’s where I got a grand tour of their ADORABLE house. Since we are grandmas we went to sleep early because we had to be up for a tour at Lockheed Martin the next morning.

So Saturday we all woke up pretty early, without alarm clocks because we are old now and don’t need them on the weekends apparently, and got ready to head over for the big tour. Y’all when I say big I mean BIG because Lockheed Martin is HUGE. I mean it kind of has to be since they build fighter jets from scratch but I didn’t realize just how big of a facility you need to do that. Since they build these jets for the D.O.D we weren’t even allowed to have our phones. I guess they do that so no one is tempted to take pictures that could wind up in the wrong hands or something. Anyway, seeing an F-35 start from literally a piece of metal at one end of the building to completion was probably one of the cooler things I’ve done lately.

Bright eyed and ready for the tour!

After the tour, we went to an open house because Callie and Jason are on a serious hunt for the perfect house to buy and seem to keep striking out. I say it’s because the right one isn’t ready for them yet but we are all praying pretty hard that the right one becomes available ASAP. We found this cute little burger joint called the “Malt Shop” to eat at when we left the potential house that was pretty dang good. Not the best fries, but they had their burgers and shakes almost perfected so we were happy. Once we were fat and happy, we made our way over to Dallas to visit the Boho Market and Flea Style.

We didn’t really take into consideration just how freaking HOT it was outside so we barreled through the Boho Market, grabbed daiquari’s from Cajun Tailgaters and high tailed it over to Flea Style so we could shop in air conditioning. We are wimps, we know but we have no shame. Flea Style in Deep Ellum was absolutely precious and everything I hoped it would be. Seriously, if I could ever have a store with cool junk, I’d want it to be just like Flea Style. Callie bought the yummiest smelling candle and I left wishing I wasn’t planning a wedding so I could spend all of my money there. There’s also this super cute shop called Jade and Clover a few streets over that we stopped at as well and got more cute goodies! Jade and Clover has an adorable succulent bar that you can build your own arrangement at! So clever. I bought a dainty St. Christopher necklace because I was all in my feelings and wanted to have one like J.T.’s. I know, I’m too much.

We can’t say no to a good photo wall. Even if the flowers were wilted.

Okay I’m sure you’re probably thinking, they are having one hell of a marathon day. So let me finish by letting y’all in on a little secret. The best way to wrap up a marathon day is by taking a trip to the VELVET TACO in Fort Worth. HOLY SMOKES, that place is amazing and their red velvet cake with sweetened condensed milk drizzled over it is the best. They have the best street tacos and you should trust me because I only had them take the cheese off mine. Which is huge, because if you know me then you know how picky I am and normally I’d ask for like the meat only. I’d also like to mention that they have one dang good margarita there.

On Sunday, we had breakfast at a place called First Watch which was alright but not worth it for how expensive it is. Afterwards, we drove around looking for more houses to consider before hitting up an antique shop. Kenzie bought I cute little plant stand and I wound up with toffee. Random, I know but FW junk isn’t priced like Conroe junk. Plus, I’m not even sure where JT and I will be living in January so I’m trying to play it cool on buying stuff I’m not even sure I’ll need.

Callie and Laurie recovered the chairs in their dining room. ADORBS.

All in all, it was such a fun weekend and I know Callie was thrilled to host us. Well at least, I think she was. Who am I kidding, Callie LOVED having her absolute favorite people in the entire world under one roof for one weekend. So there you have it, our weekend in Fort Worth all wrapped up in one probably way too long post.

We’d like to know what you think we should do next time we visit Callie and Jason. More importantly, we need to know of best breakfast spot in town! Oh and more cool boutiques of course. Send your suggestions our way!
