Fall Activities to Get You Feeling Festive

Fall Activities to Get You Feeling Festive

Written by: Kenzie

Fall is my absolute favorite season and I am PUMPED that it’s actually starting to feel a little bit like fall in Texas. The cool weather comes and goes but I am ready for it to be here to stay. Fall is the perfect time for outdoor activities, crafts inside on stormy days, and reflections on the year as we head into the hectic holiday prep time and the new year. I wanted to share a few ideas for enjoying fall to the fullest and if you have any other ideas or traditions that are a must do, let me know in the comments!

Bake something full of fall flavor

I am a fan of baking - just in case you didn’t know. I know it isn’t everyone’s thing which is fine, but there’s nothing better than biting into a warm, delicious, freshly-baked something. For fall, anything maple, cinnamon, or of course, pumpkin spice, will do the trick. I’m sharing a banana bread recipe that’s easy and absolutely mouth-watering on our Instagram stories so head to the ‘gram to snag a screenshot of that!

Craft something festive

A fall wreath is definitely a good place to start! They’re fairly easy to make and then you have a new decoration for your door. Other great options include sketching a fall scene, embroidering something festive (follow my friend Claire @bumblebeestitchery for inspiration in that field) or making a fun banner to use as decoration when Thanksgiving rolls around.

Experiment with fall cocktails

I think it’s so fun to just get to mixing liquors and fancy syrups and using pretty glassware. Makes me feel like a real mixologist even if half the things I make taste absolutely horrible. Some great fall liquors are Crown Royal Apple, Rumchata, Kahlua, and bourbon. One of my favorite cocktails of all time (but also is great for fall flavors) is a white Russian. A classic is one ounce each of heavy cream, Kahlua, and vodka over ice, but you can add cinnamon, Chai tea, salted caramel, or a little pumpkin puree to make it really scream “It’s autumn!”.

Collect nature’s treasures

Best thing about this one is it’s absolutely free. Grab a basket or pail and pick somewhere pretty (I really like W.G. Jones State Forest or Sam Houston State Forest if you’re up for a bit of a drive) and simply enjoy the outdoors, taking not of all the adorable things nature provides and collect what you can while still preserving nature in its natural state. Rocks, acorns, flowers, foliage, you name it.

You can press the flowers or make a pretty arrangement or fall crown to wear to the Renaissance if that’s your thing - it’s definitely my thing.

Go apple or pumpkin picking

This one really depends on your area, I’ve never been apple picking but know I would love it. I’ve actually never even picked a pumpkin, but I have been to a pumpkin patch and it’s a blast. Make do with what’s available in your area and be sure to take lots of pics because we all know how aesthetic that is.

Go antiquing

For some reason, fall makes me feel nostalgic and the weather is typically cool enough to stroll the streets in Downtown Conroe and walk through the several antique and thrift shops in the area in search of treasures. Mimi’s on Main and Conroe Central Market boast a variety of vintage goods sure to catch anyone’s eye.

Lastly…

The easiest fall task is simply to curl up with a blanket, a good book, and something warm to drink. This always makes me slow down and really enjoy the weather, the world around me, and everything I’ve been blessed with.
