Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Written by: Kenzie

Gift-giving is one of my love languages. I love finding or making that perfect gift for someone, wrapping it up extra beautiful, and giving it to a friend or loved one. I like to give something that’s useful and practical while still being beautiful and something that they probably wouldn’t buy themselves. Treat them to something good, not something useless.

We like to keep our gift guides on the shorter side so that it’s not overwhelming for the buyer. No one needs fourteen different options for a gift that are all some variation of bath goods - decorative soap only goes so far. So we’ve got a list of 9 for you and we’ve got three categories - Boujee, Budget-friendly, and Basically Free. Pretty self-explanatory, so decide what you’re willing to spend and make Valentine’s Day a little more special for someone you love.

Boujee

  1. This one is really cool, y’all. Our friends at Lady and Lion Co. make handcrafted zodiac dreamcatchers. As if that’s not cool enough, they have the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day - a lover’s zodiac signs dreamcatcher. You and your partner’s zodiacs woven together in perfect harmony. Talk about dreamy! Contact them ASAP to get them in time for February 14. Take a look at all their other goodies while you’re at it.

2. Who doesn’t love a day at the spa? Treat yourself and your loved one (your mom, gal pal, significant other, sister, whoever) to a day of luxury. Callie really likes Milk + Honey spa in River Oaks, but I know there’s lots of other options in whatever area you’re in.

3. Ronin restaurant in Downtown Bryan, TX is an absolute gem. A little pricy, but totally worth it for the atmosphere, food, great staff, and beautiful historic building. If you want to be extra boujee, attend one of their Full Moon Dinners. Once a month, they offer a nine course meal on the farm where they grow a lot of their produce and foods they use in the restaurant.

I haven’t had the pleasure of attending a full moon dinner yet, but their farm looks absolutely stunning and dessert is served in the garden AND you also get a tour of the farm. I mean, sounds like a perfect evening to me.

Budget Friendly

  1. Gotta plug our own stuff because it’s actually good. The Valentine’s Mystery Box on Etsy is legit. You get all kinds of Valentine’s themed goodies all wrapped up in a gift box and sent right to you. Plus, it’s always a thrill opening it up and seeing what you got!

  2. Lush is just a great place for any occasion honestly. It’s just expensive and ridiculous enough that people typically don’t buy it for themselves so that means it’s the perfect gift! Bath bombs are always a little luxury and I really like the sleep line. Don’t forget about their fresh face masks too!

  3. Have y’all seen these Me Undies? They’re super fun printed underwear and you can match with your partner! If y’all aren’t the mushy romantic type, this is definitely for you.

Basically Free

  1. Set up a cute picnic for your lover either in a park (totally free), your backyard (definitely free), or even in your living room (absolutely free). Picnics are cute in and of themselves and just add a few extras (like this cute V-Day decor) to amp up the cute-ness and you’re all set. The food can be simple (who doesn’t love PB&Js?); it’s all about spending time together, enjoying the great outdoors if you’re able, and definitely snapping some cute photos for Insta. (Psst, contact us and let’s talk about us setting up your picnic for you and making it cute as heck!)

  2. Take giving flowers up a notch and get your Valentine a love fern! Indoor plants help brighten up any room and they’re good for air quality plus they’re pretty. What’s not to love?

  3. Something heartfelt. This one is actually free and it can be a myriad of things. Acts of service are always great, especially if your significant other is always “nagging” (reality check: they’re not nagging, you just need to help out more) you about chores around the house. Do the dishes, fold the laundry, etc., etc. You could also write daily notes, kept in a cute journal, to give to them on February 14. Honestly, it does not take a lot to make the day special. Don’t overthink it!

Honestly, I think Valentine’s Day is a bit of a sham. It’s definitely been highly commercialized which is a real shame, but it’s still a good excuse to show your people how much you care! This is a short guide but I hope it also serves as a reminder that it’s not about how much you spend on someone or what useless thing you buy them, it’s about giving them your time, your attention, and always letting those around you know how much you love and care for them.
