As the World Rambles On: June Edition

Okay, y’all should be happy this month. I don’t have too much for you. I also have no pictures because I’m literally the worst blogger ever.

June didn’t have too many things happening, and I’m actually okay with that. Looking back on the month I’m realizing that I spent almost every weekend in Fort Worth and that was really nice, to stay put, work on projects around the house and spend time with Jason and little Bassy. There were lots of park visits and playing with new toys. I got a vinyl cutting machine for my birthday that I’ve been able to finally make a few things with and Jason very recently bought a CNC machine (if you’re like me and have no idea what that is, it’s like a 3D printer but instead of adding material to create something it takes it away) that he’s been enamored with for a while. In fact as I’m writing this our friend and his brother are at our house and all three of them are geeking out over this machine.

The one big thing I had happen this month was the annual beach trip to Port Aransas with Jason’s family. I love this beach trip. I’ve been going for the past four years. Jason has a huge family and it’s just really fun to spend time with them all. Our nieces and nephews are adorable and I love getting to spend time with them. The beach house this year allowed pets so we brought Bas with us and, to our surprise, he loved the water! There were also sea turtles at the beach this year! We made a couple of trips to the jetty to check them out, so that was super cool.

The weekend after that I went to Conroe so that the three of us could meet up with Dave and Lauren of Beyond Bartending (the amazing people that served awesome drinks at mine and Brenna’s weddings) and create some yummy cocktails and brainstorm collab blogs with them that I’m excited to get up on the blog! So be on the look out for that!

Overall June was a really fun month of not a whole lot of things. Which is sometimes better.

Oh, and I lied, I do have one photo for you this month. My husband is a man-child and likes to catch critters. Here he is with a giant turtle we found on one of the many park trips.

He once caught a bird out of midair while we were riding on a 4-wheeler. He has a real talent. It’s possible that he may be a Disney Prince.

June for me was a pretty standard month. I did a lot more of the same kinds of things. Namely taking tons of photos of the new puppy, Apollo, working out at the garden (I think this will be the last year for it which is pretty sad) and making cakes at work and for Father’s Day. Oh, and also drinking lots of iced coffee and eating snowcones.

Brad’s niece and nephew also came down to stay for a weekend which was fun! I learned some things like I’m not nearly as patient as I thought I was and also that I am in no way ready for or wanting kids in the near future. :)

I also tried out being a brand ambassador for the first time over the past few months. It was for these super cute shoes, Bangs, and all I had to do was post once a month for three months and they gave me a discount code. Overall, not a fantastic experience, I didn’t learn anything new or even use the discount code since I bought my pair of sneakers off Poshmark. They are a really cool company, though, and I do love the shoes!

I’m hoping to be more productive in July, mostly. I really want to work on re-opening an Etsy shop for cool old things and cool handmaid things which turns out to be more work that originally anticipated. I’d also like to get more into photography and maybe learn about film photography. Another big goal for the summer is to meal prep, cook more, and work out more, specifically in the outdoors but it is just so dang hot. Writing my goals here so give me your advice and hold me to it, please!

I’m not gonna lie, this month went by in an absolute blur. It felt like I did a lot but when I look back over my calendar I mainly just worked out… Pathetic. I worked around the apartment, rearranging a few things, tending to my plants and hanging the worlds most complicated floating shelf on a wall that was impossible to find studs on. I literally shed tears over this stupid thing. I was a woman on a mission though, so I didn’t give up on the dang thing. It looks adorable now and I’m still trying to figure out what all I want to put on it. I swear, one day soon I’ll do an apartment tour, I’m just super annoying and never really like where I put things. Don’t get me wrong- I can confidently say our apartment is super cute, I’m just picky.

I stepped into my new role as Social Media Chair for Junior League The Woodlands this month and hit the ground running with that. The communications committee had a meeting together at Craft Grill in Spring and it was so dang delicious. I definitely think you should go there if you’re looking for a cozy place to have a date night. Or to do brunch with friends, their brunch menu is also good. I also worked more on my little peasant calligraphy gig which has been fun!

We went out to Dad’s for Father’s Day which was fun because we got to catch up over good Mexican food and hear all kinds of funny stories from him. If you know my dad, then you know he can tell a good story. JT’s dad was in Costa Rica fishing so we celebrated father’s day with him a week later. I got to have lunch a couple of times with JT’s mom which I absolutely loved. She is one busy lady so getting time with just her is an extra special treat.

Look at these gorg purslanes my dad has! This is my favorite plant.

Oh! Callie came home the weekend before last and we met up with our buddies at Beyond Bartending to do a little collaboration together! They showed us everything you need for a good at home bar and they showed us how to make a true old fashioned. I am not one for bourbon but it sure was neat to see the drink come together. We can’t wait to share more about that day with y’all very soon. Also I did this thing called the Bod Pod last weekend which was the coolest ever. I definitely didn’t expect to have these results but it was so motivating for me. I know I have more work to do but it’s nice to know that all of this working out is paying off.

I have a HUGE announcement coming soon. It’s huge. Stay tuned.
